Terms of Service

These terms cover the use of this website. The terms covering roofing work are in the contract for that work, and where the two differ the contract governs.

Using this site

You may read this site, print it and send it to other people. You may quote from it with attribution. Please do not republish it wholesale as your own, which happens to contractor websites more than you would think.

The pricing on this site

Every price on this website is a range collected from real Houston-area quotes, supply pricing, published cost guides and trade discussion, with the collection period stated on each table. Ranges are published so that building owners can sanity-check the bids in front of them, which is a thing this market badly needs.

They are not quotations and they are not offers. Nobody can price a commercial roof without walking it, taking cores and establishing what is actually on the deck, and any number produced without that is a guess. The calculator on the cost page is an order of magnitude estimate built from the same ranges, and it is not a quotation either.

The regulatory information on this site

The permit, code and windstorm information here is published because it is genuinely hard to find and because building owners are entitled to know it. It is accurate to the best of our knowledge at the time of writing, with sources linked so you can check it yourself, and it is a starting point rather than professional advice.

Codes change, fee schedules change, jurisdictional boundaries are not always where the postal address suggests, and the requirements for your specific building and scope may differ from the general position described here. Verify anything you are relying on with the authority concerned. We are roofing contractors and not code officials, attorneys, engineers, public adjusters or insurance advisers.

Warranties and work

Roofing work is covered by the written contract for that work, by the manufacturer warranty registered on the system where one applies, and by our workmanship warranty. Nothing on this website varies any of those, and nothing on this website constitutes a warranty in itself.

Liability

We take reasonable care over what we publish and we cannot accept liability for loss arising from reliance on general information published on a website. Do not use this site as a substitute for having your own building surveyed.

Links out

We link to the City of Houston Permitting Center, the Texas Department of Insurance, the International Code Council and RCAT because those are the primary sources for what we are describing. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas.
