Fourteen submarkets across four counties, everything inside about forty-five minutes of the yard. The table has the thing nobody else publishes: who permits your building and whether it sits inside the TDI windstorm zone.

The windstorm column is the one worth reading. The TDI designated catastrophe area covers fourteen coastal counties plus the part of Harris County east of Highway 146, which inside city limits means La Porte, Morgan’s Point, Pasadena, Seabrook and Shoreacres. East of that line, work on a structure built or altered on or after January 1, 1988 needs a WPI-8 certificate of compliance to keep TWIA windstorm coverage available. West of it, nothing. That boundary runs straight through our service area and it is the single most consequential geographic fact about roofing in this metro.

Jersey Village, Galena Park, South Houston, Jacinto City, Webster, Meadows Place, Piney Point Village, Hedwig Village, Klein and Aldine, plus everything inside the 610 Loop and along the Beltway. If you are not on this list and you are inside about forty-five minutes of central Houston, call and ask.

Where we stop, and why

Conroe at roughly fifty minutes, Galveston at fifty-five, Rosenberg and the far southwest, and anything past Baytown to the east. We could drive there. What we could not do is get to an emergency call in a useful timeframe or run a maintenance programme efficiently, and a roofing contractor who cannot reach your building when it is actually leaking is not much use to you. We would rather say so than take the work.

The south metro suburbs, Pearland, Missouri City, Alvin, Manvel and Fresno, are inside the radius and we are deliberately light there because the commercial demand in this metro sits north, west and along the Ship Channel rather than in the southern residential suburbs.
